Klub baseball Jakarta Cheetahs menjuarai edisi pertama Asia Koshien seri Indonesia 2024 yang berlangsung di Lapangan Baseball Gelora Bung Karno, Jakarta, Sabtu.

 

Jakarta Cheetahs memastikan gelar juara usai mengatasi perlawanan Jakarta Prambors dengan skor 7-5 pada pertandingan final.

"Memang kami selama tiga tahun terakhir sudah mendapatkan dua kesempatan dari total lima kesempatan yaitu pertama masuk semifinal dan kedua di final lalu kami gagal...kami introspeksi diri bagaimana kami bisa bangkit lagi dan menjadi juara," kata kapten tim Jakarta Cheetahs Keenan Malik Trisnadi kepada pewarta, Sabtu.

 

"Kami latihan terus berkali-kali dan akhirnya kerja keras tersebut terbayarkan. Kami meraih juara tahun ini di Asia Koshien Indonesia," imbuh atlet berusia 27 tahun tersebut.

 

Perjalanan dari Jakarta Cheetahs begitu sulit sebelum meraih juara. Pada pertandingan pertama, Jakarta Cheetahs harus mengakui ketangguhan Bandung Gorgeous Baseball dengan skor 2-3.

 

Usai takluk, Jakarta Cheetahs mampu bangkit di pertandingan kedua dengan mengatasi perlawanan Jakarta Prambors 9-2 sekaligus menyegel tiket ke babak semifinal.

 

Sedangkan di babak semifinal, Jakarta Cheetahs menyudahi perlawanan Jakarta Garuda 7-0 dan mengamankan juara usai membungkam kembali Jakarta Prambors di final.

“Kami senang melihat animo masyarakat yang ramai dan selain warga Jakarta, hari ini juga diramaikan oleh komunitas Jepang yang turut mengisi tribun penonton," kata Tournament Director Roy Romaya.

 

Turnamen ini diharapkan menjadi ajang yang melahirkan potensi-potensi atlet baseball ke depannya. Terlebih ajang yang diikuti oleh delapan tim ini cukup banyak menarik animo masyarakat.

 

"Selain mengembangkan potensi anak muda Indonesia, kita juga ingin bertukar wawasan mengenai bagaimana Jepang bermain baseball yang sedikit berbeda dengan negara lain, yaitu dengan kejujuran, kedisiplinan, dan saling menghargai sesama tim," ujar CEO No Border Academy Shogo Shibata.

 

Selain menyelenggarakan turnamen Asia Koshien, juga berlangsung turnamen ekshibisi yang mempertemukan Indonesian All Stars menghadapi Japan All Stars.
